Philosophy.

Alpenhotel Ammerwald was born out of the idea of offering BMW Group employees a place to retreat, where they could relax and recharge their batteries for their demanding work. Alpenhotel Ammerwald sees itself as a kind of home away from home - many of our guests come back year after year to really get away from it all. Everything we do is focused on the well-being of our guests. This is linked to the regionality and seasonality of our products and the reduction of our carbon footprint in general.

Architecture.

Alpenhotel Ammerwald was built in 2009 using a modular construction method with solid wood modules and other natural materials - a unique approach at the time, which has already attracted many interested architects to us. The combination of wood and metal gives the building its modern look.

Alpenhotel Ammerwald is heated with oil and pellets and has its own drinking water supply and sewage treatment plant.

History.

Where the Alpenhotel Ammerwald stands today, there used to be a simple inn with modest business operations in the 19th century, which burnt down in the winter of 1901. In 1906 a guesthouse was built on the same site with a dining room, function rooms and a large veranda. Four years later, a laundry, a bakery and a kiosk were added.

In the 1940s, the building was bought by the "Support Association for the Employees of  Bayerische Motorenwerke". It became a recreation centre for BMW employees. In the 1960s and 1970s, Alpenhotel Ammerwald was renovated: An indoor swimming pool, a bowling alley and a daytime café were added. In 1998, further rooms and a modern training centre were also added. The kitchen was also completely renovated.

To this day, our aim is to keep the architecture of #Alpenhotel Ammerwald up to date, so that our guests always feel at home and can relax.
